When you are just starting out with soap making, ideas are plentiful but quite often you are really unsure whether you can actually put those ideas into practice. When I first started making soap, I certainly could have done with a few ideas borrowed from more experienced soapers!
It is much easier as you gain experience to start to experiment with adding new ingredients or changing the composition of your recipes when you have a better feel for what will and won't affect your trace. There is nothing more disheartening than having a batch fail and not be able to pinpoint the cause.
But then if you are like anything like me, you just won't be able to resist experimenting.
After all, just how much plain white soap can a family use?
One good batch can last for months, let alone two or three. Pretty soon you will have given homemade soap to everyone you know and will probably still have more for each of them (if only they would take it...)
How about cutting down on the practice needed to perfect your soapmaking technique by using the recipes and techniques developed by other sucessful soapers?
And please if you do find an idea through these pages that you find helpful, come back to that particular page and post a comment to let the contributor know, and when you are ready, please feel free to post an idea or two of your own!
